Savannah and Hilton Head

Wednesday was National Signing Day for college football so needless to say Robert has had the run of the computer this week. I haven't gotten to do any blogging so I'm going to try to do some blog catch up! We have been pretty busy so I hope I don't forget anything :)
I'm trying to figure out how to blog from my phone so maybe that will help with the small blogs. Like yesterday I would have posted the Reese went #1 and #2 in her potty without any help from me!!! WOO HOO!!!!

Last weekend we went to Savannah...amazing!! Robert had some work things going on and I have never been so we decided to make it a weekend trip. We had some crazy weather; nice on Friday, rain on Saturday and cold on Sunday but we still managed to do some shopping and sightseeing.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn on Bay Street, which is kind of their "main" road right next to the water. We were in walking distance to the shopping district and lots of fun restaurants.

This is one of the "squares" we passed through on our way to shop.

Saturday Reese and I had a little girls day of shopping. Savannah has basically three streets (Whitaker, Broughton and Barnard) that have neat little shops, tea rooms and antique stores. Our favorite was The Paris Market and Brocante. It had a lot of knick-knacks, furniture, pillows, books, antique jewelry and a candy bar (Reese's favorite!) A really neat store and a must if you ever visit Savannah!!

Another good store was DC2 Design. This had more home things but we got a really pretty candle holder. Most all of the stores and some kind of soda or coffee bar which made everything seem so homey. Perfect for a rainy day!

I took a picture of the front of DC2 to kind of show what all of the shops looked like. It was kind of like strolling around the square in Covington with the old store fronts, except the store were better and bigger :)

After shopping for a while Reese and I just kind of roamed around checking things out. Everything was so pretty even on a rainy day. I took in the scenery while Reese splashed in water puddles. She didn't wear out in all of our walking!

After a good nap and dinner Saturday night we went on a ghost tour!! Robert's boss insisted we all go?! So a hearse picked us up outside our hotel and drove us around Savannah to all of the "haunted" places. They were mostly old mansions that have been turn into hotels or little B&Bs. It was more just interesting history than ghost stories. Maybe next time we go we can stay in one of the Bed and Breakfast - they were so pretty!! We'll let you know if we have any run-ins with the previous occupants ;)

We had a pretty long night with Reese Saturday night, and when I say long I mean like no sleep. I think she just isn't sure about traveling. It always throws off her sleep schedule and she never eats much. If I was tired and hungry I would be in a bad mood too!! So we got up and checked out fairly early Sunday. We went down by the water and walked around looking at more shops and all of the river traffic. It was too cold to stay long so we hit the road!

We randomly decided to spend Sunday in Hilton Head. Probably one of the most sporadic things we have ever done. It wasn't too far out of the way and neither Robert nor I have ever been so we just made the detour!
My camera was dead by this point :( so I don't have any other pictures. But, we did have lunch at the awesome little diner. We had no idea where to go so we just looked up stuff on the Garmin but we really lucked out. We went to the Hilton Head Diner. Imagine a Steak and Shake or something. Outside you would have never thought their food would be so delish! I had fish and chips and Robert had jumbo shrimp stuffed with crab meat. Both were excellent. Reese had an omelet she says she loved :) The staff was so nice, we loved it! I tried to look up some info to put a link but apparently the diner is always so packed it is the only place in Hilton Head that doesn't advertise. So, if you ever go to Hilton Head this is another one of our must go to recommendations!!

That's a not-so-short wrap up of our weekend. We had a wonderful time but we were absolutely exhausted when we got home. I don't think we will be taking anymore weekend trips until Reese gets a little older :) I'm worn out from just blogging about it!!
