Spring in Tennessee

A big advantage of staying home with Reese means we can go visit our TN families for nice long visits. Robert took off last Thursday so we left early Friday morning and drove in. It is so much nicer when we have 3-day weekends to travel. Last weekend two of my high school friends,Chrissy and Tanner, got married!! And of course this next weekend is Easter! Instead of driving two weekends in a row, Robert flew back for the work week and Reese and I stayed in TN. I hope Su-Su and Granddaddy don't mind us staying too much ;)

I guess the traveling was exhausting for Reese because she didn't even make it to dinner Friday night. Robert and I took advantage and he headed to Memphis for some guy time at the casinos and I had a girls night! Something very rare for both of us!! Saturday was a busy day of playing. Reese got to go to Cabe's first t-ball practice then my dad pushed Reese and Cabe around on the four wheeler. Yes, I did say pushed. He couldn't get it to start so he pushed the little four-wheeler. That is what you call dedication!! They loved it!

Such a good granddaddy!

And then Saturday night as I mentioned was Chrissy and Tanner's wedding! Reese didn't get to go...I don't think she minded. Robert and I don't get to spend a lot of time "out" in Covington so the wedding was a lot of fun! I saw tons of people I probably haven't seen since high school! Nothing like a small town :) We had a great time and everything, especailly the bride, was beautiful!
So far this week we have been shopping with Su-Su, playing with Cabe every day, and sleeping/eating like an angel (not like that at home!)
Anna Laura and I got to take Reese on her first trip to Gus's. It's a very yummy fried chicken place in Mason (slightly outside of Covington). Anna and I have always loved going there so it was only appropriate she be there for Reese's first visit. Reese never tried a bite of chicken but loved the gum ball machine!

"Help Me! Help Me!"

Reese likes to do this thing where she climbs on our legs from the couch to the ottoman, falls down and wants us to drag her back up, repeatedly. It kind of drives Robert and I crazy! Tonight after dinner she was doing the usual climbing when she slid off the couch and was just dangling by her legs, barely hanging on. (Before I precede let me state that our couch is maybe 2 feet away from the carpeted floor and that no children were injured in the making of this story.) Neither Robert nor I were really paying her any attention when she yelled out clear as day "Help Me! Help Me!" I don't know why but I just died laughing! I loved it!! We all know she has been talking for a while, talking quite a bit, but this was different. This was a no doubt about it phrase, not like when we were like "I think she said da-da" or "did she just say puppy?" And the weird thing, where did she learn this? It's not like Robert and I walk around yelling for help...although if it worked I would definitely try it - "Help me with the ironing!!" Anyway, we pulled her back up on the couch and she continued to climb and crawl all over us :)
Other than that there is not a lot to post about. It has rained here most of the week so we have been confined to inside activities which neither Reese nor I are very fond of. We did bake a cake one day. Reese grabbed the eggs and before I could blink smashed all three on the counter :) We did a little window shopping at the mall. Reese was entranced by the Sephora store. (It's a huge make-up store with neat bright lights.) She literally stopped dead in her tracks when we walked past it. I had one of those TV moments where I imagined her getting loose in there and then me dragging her out covered in make-up...future note: avoid that section of the mall! And best of all, Robert got home at a reasonable hour every day last week!!! Today he was home by 5:30! CRAZY I know!! I could definitely get used to that!

And all is quiet...

Robert is gone to work, Julie picked up Dani and Reese is still sleeping...aahhhhh! I little time to myself :)

I know my blog posts have been a little long lately, but I was just looking back over them and I feel like so much has happened and changed in the last few months. Time is passing SO fast and my baby girl is really growing up! I guess since so many of our friends and family live away I don't want them to miss anything. So often I take the little accomplishments for granted. It wasn't until last weekend when I was talking with Robert that I realized how grand these "small" accomplishments are!

We have always said that Reese was going to have quite the personality and each day she is showing us more of herself. It is a great gift from God to see your small baby turn into a little girl.

Anyway, this post is solely to tell the little things Reese is doing at 20 months.
  • Loves to color (and holds the crayons correctly)!
  • Needs a tissue after she cries to wipe her tears. -- maybe one of the sweetest things I've ever seen
  • Knows tons of animal sounds - cat, dog, frog, cow, sheep, pig and horse - and recognizes their picture.
  • Talking a ton! Saying mama, dada, puppy, peas (please) and so much more!
  • She also uses her hands to talk. Robert claims she gets this from me. The other day Julie kind of twirled her hands and Reese was so fascinated and kept trying to mimic it.
  • She mimics everything we do! Talking, cooking, texting :) bouncing or throwing the ball and jumping!
  • Climbs up the stairs and slides down all on her own.
  • Loves to sit in her rocking chair from Aunt Crissy and read her books.
  • Which brings me to, she thinks she can read. She points at stuff on the pages and talks away. She rarely lets me read to her, she reads to me now :)
  • And I am sure many of you know, she loves the cell phone and knows if someone is really on it. If you hang up on her she gets upset!
  • Can drink out of the medicine cup without any help.
  • She remembers so much. Which way the pool is, where we keep the crayons and where we hide the phones.
  • Tells me "No No" when I fake cry. Ok, I used to do this and she would hug me. Now, she puts her finger to her mouth and shhes me then yells "No No!"
  • Loves shoes!
  • Likes to watch TV and lay on our bed. I have no idea where she gets this?! She pulls me into our room, usually at night or on the weekends, I guess when Robert is hogging the TV (haha). It's not like she even watches cartoons, last night she watched the closing ceremonies for the Olympics! And she wants to do it alone. This really makes me feel like she is getting big!
  • Signs "more" when Su-Su sings to her.

I'm sure this will be irrelevant to most of our blog followers. I guess this post is more for me, to help me remember.
