It's Official

After two wonderful years of staying home with Reese I am going back to work! I feel so blessed to have shared this time with her but feel like we are all finally ready for this chapter in our lives and excited to see what it will bring.

Almost 2 months ago, I went in to interview {although for a different job} but for some reason never thought it would lead to anything. About two weeks ago, after a follow up meeting in a different department, they called and offered me a position! After two months you would think I would be mentally prepared but today when they called and said "Can you be here at 8:00 a.m. Monday?" pure panic set in! Am I really going to have to leave my baby? Do I really have to be up and dressed that early?

In my mind and heart I know that God is 110% behind this; but, there is still a huge ball of nerves in the pit of my stomach saying "No! No! Just stay home until Reese goes to college!!" :)

All afternoon I have been on the verge of tears as reality is setting in. No more sleeping in, no more staying in our PJs until after lunch {yes, some days we do that!}. But then tonight, Reese came running into the living room with one of her books {she brings them out one by one each night, wanting to read, hoping to delay her bed time :)} and this is what we read:

O Daniel,
True and faithful,
On bended knee you pray.
Our God way up in Heaven
Hears every word you say.
Will He answer quickly
When the lions growl and snear?
Of course He will,
So just be still,
And know that God is near!
- Daniel 6:27
I wouldn't compare my job to lions but there is a peace in the words "be still and know that God is near." I guess it was one of God's subtle reminders that He is in control.

Too Much Fun for Two Days!

We certainly made the most of our time this weekend. And to think, Friday I thought we might get bored! I felt like we were tourist we did so much!

Saturday morning we saw on the news that Dora {yes, DORA!} was supposed to be at the Aquarium!! So of course we had to go! I was almost more excited than Reese. Not to mention, Robert had never been to the aquarium; usually Reese and I go during the week when he is working.
Reese was as excited as usual to the the fishies!
And she was quite the little tour guide!

I think Robert was really impressed! I talk so highly of the aquarium so I was glad it lived up to his expectations!

Sadly though, Dora was never spotted! 11Alive news is on our very bad list!!!

Saturday night {afternoon} we went to the Braves v. Diamondbacks! It was mine and Reese's first game of the season.

She is so much bigger and more aware of what is going on this year so Robert and I didn't really know what to expect from her at the game. We went early enough {2 hours early!!} to see batting practice. We knew it could go two ways: she would get all of the running around out of her system and be tired by game time or she would be fed up and cranky by game time. Luckily she did soo well and I think really had a great time!

Robert even caught a ball during batting practice. Never in a million years did either of us expect this! I had no clue the ball was even hit in our direction :)
He was so excited!

The Braves stadium has a little kids area with fun baseball games. We went up before the game started and let her run the base. She was so excited and did a really good job! She was slinging her elbows and trying to go fast!
I had to get a video!!

Robert even taught Reese how to do the tomahawk chop!

She was again so excited!!

Sunday morning we went to church. Reese was so tired when we picked her up from the nursery I'm not even sure she was awake! She was snoozing before we made it to the parking lot! But I'm pretty sure she had a big time playing because she had a crayon stuffed down her diaper?? :)
After a long nap, Sunday afternoon we headed out to the softball fields. Robert's league team has started back. They had their first two games this weekend and are 1-1. Bob hit a triple and I think overall they have a lot better team this year! So we were out there from 4:30 to 9 and Reese played in the dirt the entire time!
I think it would have been more appropriate to hose her down when we got home {or just dip her in the pool} but we opted for a sink bath. We haven't done this in forever and she loved it!! It really made me realize how big she has gotten!

We had a wonderful weekend! I love the quality time with my little family, even as exhausting as it can be!

Happy Friday!

I have been so lazy this week with Reese.
We have just been relaxing and enjoying each other!

This picture is from last week but I think it is so sweet.
Such a good way to end our week!

Ironing

I normally hate ironing, and I complain about it alllll the time. I actually cringe in the mornings when Robert puts on a button up! BUT I ordered a new ironing board cover from CityChicCountryMouse on Etsy and I can not wait to iron with it!!!!!
It is just such a happy {clean} pattern...we'll see how long this last!

Gilligan's Island and the Three Hour Tour

We have had so much going on lately this week I had just planned on relaxing - going to the pool, taking lunch to Robert's work, and a trip to the zoo with our friend Laine... Well much like everything else in mommy world, plans mean nothing and the only thing I should expect is the unexpected!

On Tuesday, we had to make arrangements for a little impromptu trip to Tennessee for an appointment on Friday. I wanted to space out the driving but still be in Atlanta for the weekend so I had decided we would drive in early Wednesday morning and be there by lunch. With Reese, I think it is so much easier to leave in the wee hours so she sleeps the majority of the time.

Well about 1 a.m. Wednesday morning I realized this trip was going to go nothing as planned. Reese is still battling a funky cold she just can't shake and woke up clogged up. About 4:30 when we were both restlessly trying sleeping on the couch I noticed she was warm, but when I checked her temp there was no fever. About 5:20, when we should have been well on our way out of Atlanta, I checked her temperature again to get 103.8!!! What?!?! --Remember an earlier post saying we had just gone to the doctor...well, obviously we needed to go back! I immediately gave her Motrin and called the doctor. Of course it couldn't be too easy, our pediatrician was on vacation and not available. Robert and I continued to watch her temperature to make sure it fell and took her into the doctor's office as soon as it opened. As it turns out, this nasty cold settled in her ears and as the pediatrician said "She has a pretty radical infection in her left ear!" He gave her some numbing drops until we could get the prescription filled -- Thank goodness!!

After all of that, we set out on our six hour drive to my parents house. I had assumed since she was up the majority of the night she would sleep a good portion of the drive. There again, another expectation I should have never made!! She slept maybe an hour of the drive!

So, let's recap - the original plan: leave Atlanta between 4:45 and 5:00 a.m. and arrive home around lunch. New plan: leave Atlanta around lunch and arrive in TN around dinner?

We barely made it past Chattanooga before the Jeep windows were vibrating from screams!! We pulled over at a rest stop to stretch our legs and actually had a nice little play sessions.

Not a bad place to take a break from the drive!

On the last stretch of road before my parents house Reese threw my planner out the window. (Literally, not metaphorically, threw it out the window.)

Probably landed in one of the flooded fields...

So, one rest area, two gas stations, three miles of stand still traffic, 12 episodes of Dora (on repeat), one planner out the window, a package of twizzlers, two diet cokes and NINE hours later we finally made it to my parents house.

Almost home...
A six hour trip with Reese sleeping most of the way turned into THAT! I guess that is where the Gilligan's Island reference comes in (3 hour tour that turned into something much longer). I have never been more happy to have something behind me. Anyway, this morning Reese is sleeping in, feeling a little better but still battling a come-and-go fever so keep her in your prayers!
P.S. There has been a recall on Children's Motrin and on Children's Tylenol. Check out the info.

Back To Blogging

The Browers are back online! YAY! I can't believe it's been it's been 7 weeks! Time is flying and there is so much to fill everyone in on...

I guess I should start by saying back in March our computer crashed!! AHH!! It was like you see on TV, the screen started blinking and the computer was beeping and buzzing. Silly me had not backed up anything. Needless to say I had a panic attack and was waiting outside Best Buy the next morning when they opened! Luckily the Geek Squad was able to recover everything (MAJOR props to them) but our old computer was fried. We have been out of town and just plain busy the last month so we just now got around to getting a new one. But I am now blogging from a nice, new Toshiba. We'll see how this one holds up!

Just a guess at why our computer could have crashed...most people can back up their computers (documents, pictures and all) with 9.5 MB or less. I had 18 MB of pictures alone... Hm, I guess you could say I like to take pictures. But most of you probably already knew that :) I will say I now have an external hard drive I will be saving all of our pictures and videos to.

How could you not want to take pictures of this sweet baby?!

Anyway, I'm going to try to back-date a few entries starting with our Spring trip to TN. A month and a half is a long time in the life of a growing little girl. Hopefully I can remember everything! Enjoy reading.
